Kingman turquoise comes from the Mineral Park mining district near Kingman in Mohave County, Arizona. It is best known for bright sky-blue color, sometimes with a white, black or pyrite matrix. Turquoise has been mined and set in jewelry in the American Southwest for more than a thousand years, and it remains the signature stone of Native American silverwork. Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver, often stamped.925, alloyed with copper for strength. It develops a soft patina over time that a silver polishing cloth removes. Store earrings in pairs, away from moisture, and wipe them with a soft cloth; keep chemical silver dips away from stones and shell. Turquoise is the birthstone for December. Much turquoise on the market is stabilized to improve hardness and color stability.

A soft, porous stone — keep it dry and away from perfume, lotion, and household chemicals so its color stays true. Buff with a soft polishing cloth — leaving intentional oxidation intact — and store airtight to slow tarnish.
